I was just flipping channels and came upon an episode of Law and Order with Fred Thompson on it. I had thought that episodes featuring the Republican candidate would have to go off the air if announced he was running. Anyone know what the deal is? It would be great if TNT fucked up and was forced to give equal time to all presidential candidates great and small.

First of all, the Fairness Doctrine died back in the Reagan years.
Secondly, NBC won’t show episodes with Fred in them but TNT has syndication rights and they say they will continue to show episodes with him in them.

Well if anybody has any brains they will challenge TNT’s decision. The Fairness Doctrine is still on the books so any candidate from both parties should go after this.
