It’s all about the magic, really.
And whether we can take a flier on this skinny guy with the strange name and braided ancestry to help us get it back.
Bernard Kouchner, the foreign minister of France and a strong supporter of the United States, recently observed that President Bush has done such a number on our image in the world that no one will be able to restore the luster.
“I think the magic is over,” he said.
Pas si vite, mon vieux. In terms of style, the Obamas could give Carla Bruni-Sarkozy a run for her euros. And at least Obama is not in a fantasy world on Iraq, as W. and John McCain are, insisting it’s improving while we see it exploding.

For the past two weeks, all eyes have focused on Barack Obama and race. A couple of weeks ago, it was Hillary Clinton's gender. A month before that, it was all about the Obama surge among young voters.
Pundits on all sides have framed this election - and especially the Democratic primary - as turning on the traditional fault lines of race, gender and generation.
The talk shows go on and on about how Mr. Obama is attracting black and young voters and how Ms. Clinton finds her voice among women and baby boomers.
But what is seldom discussed and yet most interesting about this election is not any young-vs.-old, black-vs.-white, or male-vs.-female dynamic.
At bottom, both the Democratic primary and the upcoming general election turn on an even deeper economic and social force: class.

Jeremiah Wright JUSTIFYING HIS HATE SERMONS - "Hillary Clinton ain't never been called..."
By the same token Rev., Barack Husain Obama ain't never been called a bitch, slut, honky or c**t!
Or any of the many other derogatory terms that women of all races have endured for over 6,000 years under patriarchal religions and governments! Yet, with all the politically correct BS, THIS ISSUE REMAINS IGNORED!
Jeremiah Wright: Promoting The Hate

The shocking video Barack Obama does not want you to see!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Prhnc2fxAzg&NR=1
Several JEREMIAH WRIGHT'S SCREAMING SERMONS ON YOUTUBE and Obama too! And Obama has THE AUDACITY OF HOPEing the American people will be stupid enough to believe that he didn't know his pal Jerry and church were spouting anti-American, anti-white and anti-white xtian hate???
And do you think for one second that the media wouldn't have beat a path to Hillary's grandmother's house (were she still alive) if Hillary had stated that HER grandmother was afraid of passing a black man on the street! They would have burned her at the stake! YET, as obvious a play for sympathy for poor little black Obama (who cringed every time his WHITE granny made a racial slur in front of him) it was a nasty slur against white women in general as well! Was his White granny THAT crass and insensitive or was she a racist. Be assured, had Hillary said it, there would be no question, Obama would still be screaming "RACIST!" at the top of his lungs.
One of the early satellites the U.S. sent up reported back that there were no signs of intelligent life on earth. I am inclined to believe it was correct!

To put it mildly, Charles Smith, a 50-year-old computer store owner in Conyers, Ga., isn't a fan of Wal-Mart. Indeed he considers the retailing giant to be plying the same moral trade as Adolph Hitler and Osama Bin Laden -- and to prove his seriousness, Smith has gone and done something that requires a good deal of courage. He's designed a few impolite bumper stickers and T-shirts.
Smith's two Web sites, Wal-Qaeda and Walocaust, take for granted your hatred of Wal-Mart, and consequently offer little reasoned criticism of the firm. Instead, here you'll find an entire worldview squeezed into a slogan like, "Support our Troops: Boycott Wal-Qaeda."
One has to do some hefty mental work to conceive of a way that any of this stuff could pose an economic threat to Wal-Mart. But incredibly, Wal-Mart felt threatened by Smith's work, and a couple years ago it filed a trademark infringement suit.
Hey Wal-Mart, do you understand the legal definition of "trademark infringement"? For Smith to be violating your mark, consumers would need to be confused by the similarity of his logo to yours. Do you think that's possible -- that someone seeing a Walocaust or Wal-Qaeda logo might reasonably conclude that it's an official Wal-Mart production? If so, you must have either a very low opinion of your customers, or of your brand. Not a good sign.
