		<description><![CDATA[Gerry, I agree with everything you say about Reagan, but I think Obama&#039;s point was a much narrower one: He wasn&#039;t endorsing anything Reagan did, simply pointing out that Reagan&#039;s election marked a massive shift to the right in American politics and that Ronnie was elected by selling hope and optimism, although it really had more to do with Carter and the Iran hostages than with Reagan&#039;s sunny bullshit.

I think Obama&#039;s point was that he would like to use the same kind of hopeful and optimistic talk as Reagan to take the country to the left, and undo the scourge of Republican Corporatism.

The reason Hillary couldn&#039;t use the word &#039;ready&#039; to describe any of her opponents is because that&#039;s one of her campaign&#039;s bywords -- look at all the signs at her events that just read &quot;Ready.&quot; Of course, some have picked up on Obama&#039;s line and read &quot;Ready for Change.&quot;

We all need to stop bickering soon though; if a Republican sneaks into the White House in 2008, we&#039;ll all be wearing signs saying &quot;Begging for Change.&quot;]]></description>
