Since Bart has declared an official cease fire today and this blog has is name all over it, I would like to apologize. Please replace the divisive language of “Axelrod’s astroturf goon squad” with the more pleasant sounding “brilliant well-organized social networking experiment”.

I have an idea what “Unity” will look like in the upcoming weeks, though most people won’t care.

First will come the ideological purge of the New Democratic party. There will be a “You’re either with us or against us” style of exclusion whenever someone expresses an honest opinion. If you have any misgiving about an Obama nomination* then you will be called a racist McCain-loving low-information voter who will be soon replaced by 2 shiny new youth voters. Everyone knows this is the smartest best-looking generation of kids ever, even after unprecedented media sturation and 7 years of NCLB.

Next will come the Summer of Nastiness. Did anyone catch Obama and McCain’s speeches last night? Lots of trash talking from both sides. There will be little policy and a lot of fear-mongering and name calling. “Vote for me or all the troops will surely die!” is not an honest foreign policy debate. I hate to be the one to break this to everyone but, Obama sometimes uses the national tradgedy of the Iraq war in the same way W used 9-11.

I don’t have anything nice to say about McCain, but if I have to watch Axelrod’s astroturf goon squad unfairly attacking the poor old guy then I might start to feel a little sorry for him. Only a little though. I’m not really a racist McCain-loving low-info voter, I swear! Don’t taze me, bro!
