Here is one that has been a favorite of mine since early childhood, age 7.

Abou Ben Adhem

Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)

Never had one knock on my door and tell me I was going to hell if I didn’t embrace his particular cult. Never had one sit in my living room and tell me that I was a thief because I did not give 10 percent of my income to some cult leader so he could live like a king (without working). Never had one try to seduce me or rip me off in a business deal. Never had one preach at me. None of the those that I met ever expressed that “I’m better than you because I,m a (insert xtian cult of choice) and you are not”, attitude. None of them believed that war solved anything. None ate babies or sacrificed virgins. They appeared to be rebelling against the phony doctrines of various churches and the archaic biblical myths and enjoyed the shock value of calling themselves Satanists, wearing black clothes, looking mysterious and scaring the bejusus out of superstitious xtians. LOL
