We had 2 cats – each lived to be 17 years old. For the first 15 1/2 years, they got only dry food – Meow Mix to be specific. Sometimes a table scrap and sometimes a saucer of milk. Never had a problem. Then when the started to get older and wouldn’t eat the dry food so much, we started getting canned stuff. At first it was great and then they started getting picky. Not this, not that and it was a real pain.
We have since gotten 2 cats again and they get nothing but dry food. If they’re hungry they can eat it and if not, no big deal.
