Yes, Rain, but don’t forget, as some Christopublicans have assured me, that Almighty Gawd loves you to bits, even as He, reluctantly, sends your ass to hell for eternity for excessively petting your trouser snake or refusing to believe his only begotten kid (where are the ones who weren’t ‘begotten’?) is the one and only true savior of mankind. “Sorry, nothing to do with me — it’s just our policy.”

Just like the form of murder that the odd human species calls war,lying is a virtue and it is pleasing to the all knowing all seeing renditioner in that great big harp farm in the sky.
Do not look at yourself naked or touch yourself for which you shall be skewered and rotisseried by the above mentioned and nameless one’s first born for all eternity.

My KJV edition of the Bible says, in Exodus 20:16, that “Thou shalt not bear false witness against they neighbor” which, in strict interpretation, I suppose does leave quite a bit of wiggle room for the ‘little white liar’ and even the big Bush-Enron type.

However, elsewhere the Bible condemns those who lie to save themselves or advance their own interests.

Excellent spot-on commentary. But in the spirit of your letter, your semantics imply here that to Lie is against a Commandment (presumably one of the Ten Commandments). But there is no such commandment. Apparently God (or Moses) or whoever wrote Exodus and Deuteronomy knew that lying “for the greater good” would at times be necessary and therefore acceptable. But lies to cover one’s pernicious tracks (and also the pernicious deeds of corporations) need to be rooted out and exposed.
