Granholm: McCain Not Good for Women

Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm called for women to unify behind Barack Obama, saying that John McCain would be a mistake.

    Seeking to block an effort by John McCain to draw support from Hillary Clinton supporters, Gov. Jennifer Granholm on Saturday called for women to unify behind Barack Obama and attacked McCain’s record on women’s issues and the economy.

    McCain’s outreach to Clinton-backing women “is an effort to mask his effort on the issues important to the women who supported (Clinton)”, said Granholm, who supported Clinton during her primary campaign against Obama.

    Granholm spoke to reporters on a conference call organized by the Obama campaign.

    McCain on Saturday was holding a “virtual town hall” teleconference with former Clinton supporters, other Democrats and independents, seeking to capitalize on divisions created by Democrats’ long and at times bitter primary campaign. The McCain campaign released a list of more than two dozen Democrats and independents (HAHAHA A REAL MAJORITY! LOL) it said were supporting McCain.

    Granholm singled out McCain’s record on abortion, calling him “in lockstep with the Bush administration with respect to appointments to the Supreme Court, with the anti-choice crowd on committing to overturn Roe versus Wade.” That’s the Supreme Court decision upholding the legality of abortion, a decision anti-abortion activists have long sought to overturn.

I wish I could be, but considering that he was one of the major propagandists for this administration and facilitated their march to ruinous war, I cannot be.

I have high blood pressure and have been procrastinating my doctor’s visit.

If we can take some good away from Tim Russert’s unfortunate and untimely demise, is nobody is immune from death, and procrastination or disregarding your health, can undo anybody even the most powerful.

Go see your doctor and follow his advice.

What you have not heard?  Well Tim Russert died.  It is truly sad that a young man, in relative terms, died today, it is shocking.  If you knew Tim personally it is probably a great loss.  I am sure there were plenty of people that loved him and he might even have been a real nice guy.  I am sorry I did not know him personally.  I only knew him as a pundit and can only judge him on his public work.  Unfortunately his public work as NBC News Bureau Chief in Washington and host of “Meet the Press,” left a lot to be desired. Like many people I am shocked by his death, but I am sorry to say, not so sorry. (more…)

When DMC Pharmacy opens this summer on Route 50 in Chantilly, the shelves will be stocked with allergy remedies, pain relievers, antiseptic ointments and almost everything else sold in any drugstore. But anyone who wants condoms, birth control pills or the Plan B emergency contraceptive will be turned away.

That’s because the drugstore, located in a typical shopping plaza featuring a Ruby Tuesday, a Papa John’s and a Kmart, will be a “pro-life pharmacy” — meaning, among other things, that it will eschew all contraceptives.

The pharmacy is one of a small but growing number of drugstores around the country that have become the latest front in a conflict pitting patients’ rights against those of health-care workers who assert a “right of conscience” to refuse to provide care or products that they find objectionable.

“The United States was founded on the idea that people act on their conscience — that they have a sense of right and wrong and do what they think is right and moral,” said Tom Brejcha, president and chief counsel at the Thomas More Society, a Chicago public-interest law firm that is defending a pharmacist who was fined and reprimanded for refusing to fill prescriptions for birth control pills. “Every pharmacist has the right to do the same thing,” Brejcha said.

But critics say the stores could create dangerous obstacles for women seeking legal, safe and widely used birth control methods.

“I’m very, very troubled by this,” said Marcia Greenberger of the National Women’s Law Center, a Washington advocacy group. “Contraception is essential for women’s health. A pharmacy like this is walling off an essential part of health care. That could endanger women’s health.”

It’s a game show like atmosphere. A huge wheel spins and lands on the category…

700 Club: “BLACKS Who Vote Democratic Will Be Punished By God”

In the following video clip, former 700 Club co-host Ben Kinchlow tells Pat Robertson that African Americans who vote for a party that supports “evil deeds” are partaking in those deeds and God will judge them accordingly. Robertson concludes the discussion with a resounding “Amen”.

The problem with Kinchlow’s argument is that he ignores any analysis of the GOP and focus’s entirely on the Democratic Party. Then again, evangelicals have aligned themselves with the GOP on the basis of the few issues that secure funding for the church and votes for the party.

Hence, men like Kinchlow and Robertson constantly invoke the need to oppose abortion and same-sex marriage…while seemingly ignoring the fact that the GOP supports inequitable tax cuts for the wealthy, opposes a system of universal health care, and believes that climate change is a fabrication.

Apparently men like Kinchlow and Robertson have access to God’s hierarchy of political issues and the punishment that accompanies a failure to adhere to that hierarchy…as directed by God’s self-appointed emissaries, of course.

As you all must know by now, or most of you anyway the Nuclear Holocaust took place as predicted by self-proclaimed prophet Israel “Buffalo Bill” Hawkins, the founder of a religious sect in Abilene, Texas.“ (see blog post June 8th, 2008 4:26 pm) as every country on earth launched all of their known and unknown nuclear missiles. 

Just an hour before the holocaust began a giant UFO labeled RAPTURE EXPRESS shining a brilliant transporter beam circled the earth trailing a banner reading “YE WHO ARE WITHOUT SIN COME ON OUT “. 

Long past being virginal in thought, word or deed I stayed inside and only peeked out my window but I didn’t see anyone being raptured up in the beam.  Moments later the whole earth was engulfed in a firestorm of nuclear destruction and we were all killed.   

Three days later, I can only presume that since nothing got better, W is still killing and stealing and my neighbor from hell is still walking around, that we all went to hell and here on earth is where it is!
