Bravo Hugo, serious stuff, no joke

Filed under: Uncategorized — Gerry Fern @ 2:33 am

I have been thinking about this all day, relax, that does not mean it will make any sense. OK, so what else is new? Thanks smartass.
I am thrilled with the referendum turnout in Venezuela. As far as I am concerned the outcome could not have been better. Hugo, learned his power does have limits and he has to temper his bombastic temper and comments sometimes. Yet, you have to admire the man, he let the democratic process work, he lost, admitted defeat and will move on. Despite the propaganda propagated by our mainstream networks, years from now we will read about how Hugo changed Latin American politics forever and will be a hero in the mold of Che if not Bolivar. All despite his potty mouth. C’mon a national hero has to have some ecentricies otherwise the biographies and history books would be very boring.
But really, look at the elections and what happened. Hugo really wants to see Venezuela shaped into the country he envisions. He does not want to relinquish power and there is no indication he will. Please do not think I am his stooge. His term is up in another 6 years, long time to go, he may be dead, but he will not step down very willingly. Even though there were many issues to vote on in this constitutional referendum, all media focused on one, and no matter what side of the political spectrum they were in, they were right. There was only one true important issue; can daddy Hugo stay on forever?
His loss is welcomed by many people that support him including myself. He needs to eat a little humble pie. There is only so much change his supporters and the international community will accept at one time, so one step at a time is fine.
In addition if you are a supporter you have to be concerned about his longevity, and the more radical his policies, the likely of his longevity. If you are not aware, the newest XXXX survey of Venezuela has found that the country has five times the petroleum reserves of Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately I can just imagine the chimp and the bader masturbating in their beds tonight thinking about all that oil.
But back to the election. Hugo lost. He admitted defeat in a fair and open election and went home to sleep. How does that compare to our fixed elections? Do we have that free and fair system with paper ballots that can be verified here?
How about the Constitutional Referendum? We have a pResident that called our constitution, “just a god damened piece of paper.” He sits in his office and has aides write papers inventing all sorts of excuses to why as to why our constitution does not apply. Like, habeas corpus, the right to privacy, extraordinary rendition, torture, and if none of that is good enough you can be labeled an enemy combatant at the discretion of a pResident that is lucky enough to have the ability to order a peanut butter and jelly sandwich so he does not starve.
If none of that works, he just adds a signing statement, drawn up by some right wing chicken hawk that has never seen action and neither will his putrid piece of shit offspring, that nullifies all limits on what an unelected drunk jackass can do.
At the very minimum you have to admire Hugo, the Dictator according to our news media, for putting his ideas forward and putting them to a vote. Now, if we living in a free democracy, could only get the same opportunity.
