Today is Super Tuesday and though the first ballot of the day has not been cast, going by the notoriously unreliable polls, it appears that it’s going to be a very close result across the board for both Hillary and Obama. If the Democrats are split 50-50 then the logical solution is an Obama-Hillary or Hillary–Obama ticket.
I am sick of Obama worship, and now the new line from his supporters is that the Clintons have too much baggage and Obama doesn’t, he is clean. Oh really? Just wait until he is the nominee and the Republicans start backing up their garbage trucks of dirt into his campaign. When the Republicans are done with him you may wish to vote for Jeffrey Dahmer instead. The 527s are ready, “Muslims for truth,” you will find out that Obama is truly a Muslim, that he covered the Koran with a jacket of the bible and really did swear into office on a Koran and he attended terrorist training in Afghanistan. Ok, none of that is true, but that smear campaign is already being aired as a trial balloon in that nasty e-mail everybody has gotten in their mailbox in the past couple of weeks. In case you did not get the e-mail, one of the questioners, I think it was Brian Williams, at the debates was helpful enough to read it so as to make sure you did not miss the message.
Hillary supporters want hope and change, we agree with Obama in those sentiments, and do not fault him for airing our own feelings and desires. But, we do not agree that we can have change unless we work for it. Electing somebody that promises change by getting Democrats and Republicans working together is not a convincing argument. Democrats in congress have tried that approach and all it got them was sand in their faces, accusations of lack of spine, a highly angry or disenfranchised electorate, and their approval rating s reflect that. We need true investigations and some people prosecuted and put in jail. We need an end to rendition, water boarding, this insane occupation, domestic wire taps, signing statements and our constitution and civil liberties restored. This is not going to happen because we play nice and hope it happens. This will only happen by the forcible dismantling of all the damage that has been done over the past seven years.
Having said all that, I would be content with either an H/O or O/H presidency. I know the second option will not be too palatable to Hillary and the first may not be acceptable to Obama, but they are both worthy candidates and can both bring different talents to the office and really affect change.
John Edwards as an unrestrained Attorney General and Bill Richardson at State would complete a dream ticket and start bringing our country back from the edge of the abyss.
No matter whom you prefer, vote today, make your voices heard and let’s bring one or both of the best candidates we have ever had to choose from into the White House.
How about Edwards on the Supreme Court?
