Why Obama Will Win and That is not as Good as Most People (His Supporters) Think.
Obama went to party of 3000 people, met the Alpha male at the party and he had him declared king of the party, even though the other 2999 people at the party had no idea who he was. Doubt it? How big and diverse is Iowa in relation to the entire country? Well, Iowa has about 3 million inhabitants, 92% white. Of those people about 220,000 came out to caucus for the Democrats, 12% of all of Iowa eligible voters. This actually less than 1% of the entire US population. Yet, the pundits have decided and our news sages have already declared our candidate for the Presidency. Can anybody even tell me how crazy this is? Now it is the hype that will push Obama the rest of the way towards the candidacy unless he is caught with a goat in front of the White House at noon.
Does anybody even remember we have and had some very serious people in this race? People of experience and gravitas, ok that does not account for much anymore, before our media decided that Obama is the flavor for 2008. The longer we let this charade go on the clearer it becomes we need serious primary reforms, or a muzzle on our misguided media.
I personally like Obama, though he is a little too green for me. Though nobody was greener than the Chimpster when he was appointed, having only been out of the country once, and that was to Mexico, and he was probably too drunk or high to remember it. At a minimum Obama has lived in several countries and I am sure has a much better understanding of different cultures and the world than most Americans.
Hillary dug her own grave. It is not that we do not like Clinton and look back at the Clinton years with nostalgia and reverence, we do. I argued at the end of the Clinton years that Hillary should run and continue the legacy. Nobody can convince me that she would not have won. Both her and her husband were superstars and loved by the majority of the people, despite the intense hate from the right. Instead she chose to become Senator from NY, I would argue this was her downfall. NY politics do not play very well in the country at large. Her vote for the Iraq resolution, that she never apologized for, and the Kyl-Liberman amendment was a result of pandering to her constituency. If the Iraq resolution did not sink her candidacy, the vote for the Kyl-Liberman amendment certainly did. It certainly did for me. When will the Democrats learn that if Liberman is involved it is a trap, it will come back and bite you in the ass?
We are very involved in the Middle East, in two wars without resolution. Two chosen wars that will not do anything to make us safe, but will waste our treasury, resources, and men and we will never see any profit from these actions. Most people even in NY are very angry about this. They want this lunacy to stop. But the big money guys in NY are very close to AIPAC and JINSA and you either tow their line or you won’t be in office for long. I am sure this was very much in Hillary’s mind when she cast her votes.
One other issue that Robert Parry has been harping on, to his credit I may add, and that is what happens post election. We have a very angry electorate, very impatiently awaiting justice for the crimes this cabal of fools has inflicted on the country. Who will actually do something about after these croocks are out of office? Well I hate to disabuse some people of their preconceived conceptions, but Robert Parry has documented as early as 1994 barely two years after Bubba was elected that Clinton let JWB and Reagan off the hook in a conciliatory move to try and appease the cabal of bastards. How did they replay that favor, by doing everything possible to ruin his presidency and impeach him. Will Hillary be different, maybe, she certainly is much angrier than Bill. But her conciliatory oratory certainly does not give us that impression. And now with all that Bill covered up for this gang of thieves how far can she really push? People are angry. We want answers to many of the mysteries that have happened under secretive administrations. To not acknowledge that this is an issue in this election is to deny the depth of the anger.
Will Obama be different? I really don’t think so. That is perhaps my biggest disappointment with him. He will be overwhelmed trying to forge alliances and I really do not see him as a fighter. Actually I really don’t see him as a fighter in the General Election either and that scares the hell out of me.
Who is the fighter in this campaign with nothing to lose as the scandals are uncovered and is still angry at the way the 2004 elections were not contested? Only one person can fit this description and that is John Edwards. His message is good. He spent time in Washington but not enough to be corrupted, and he is a lawyer. A real practicing lawyer, not just somebody with a law degree. If we had an honest media, he would be our candidate.
