Hillary and Obama – Twins on Iraq

Barack Obama will need another layer of Teflon if he intends to continue talking mush on Iraq withdrawal. Speaking on CNN’s Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer, Rep. Maxine Waters warned that she and other leaders of the 75-member Out of Iraq Congressional Caucus will soon journey to early Democratic primary states to determine “who is nuancing and tip-toeing” around the issue. Asked directly if she were referring to frontrunners Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, Waters said “they both have to prove themselves.” There isn’t a dime’s worth of difference between Senators Obama and Clinton on the war…

Anti-Terror Successes? All Fictional

1.-”We stopped an al Qaeda plot to fly a hijacked airplane into the tallest building on the West Coast.”

An October 8, 2005, LA Times story, headlined “Scope of Plots Bush Says Were Foiled Is Questioned,” cited “several counter-terrorism officials” as saying that “the plot never progressed past the planning stages…. ‘To take that and make it into a disrupted plot is just ludicrous,’ said one senior FBI official….At most it was a plan that was stopped in its initial stages and was not an operational plot that had been disrupted by authorities.”

What Iraqi Government?

One is dumbstruck when comparing Rice and Powell.  As Galloway says, “What a contrast there was between those shafts of light and the myopia displayed” by our Secretary of State. “So rose-tinted were her glasses that she had even spotted the first elections in Saudi Arabia” — and she patterned said alleged elections in Iraq as even more democratic than the Saudi Elections. Galloway could not resist twisting the knife: “As one who follows events in the Arab world closely, I must tell the house that I missed the first elections in Saudi Arabia, probably the un-freest, most undemocratic and most anti-democratic country on earth.”

Yet Rice outdoes herself, even with those points missed.

Tens of thousands of demonstrators are set to arrive in the capital this weekend for a major antiwar march, staging the first of several protests intended to persuade the new Democratic-controlled Congress to do more than simply speak against President Bush’s Iraq policy.

But do not look for senators to be standing among the protesters on the Mall on Saturday. Despite a consensus building around a Senate resolution to oppose sending more troops to Iraq, even the most liberal Democratic senators do not appear eager to align themselves with a traditional antiwar protest.

Excerpt:

Diana says: On the day Hillary met Cindy, Hillary had already accumulated tens of years of experience meeting and talking to the most powerful people  in this world.  Experience in success and experience in failure.    Some think that Hillary is required by her most unique place in  history to use her experience for the advancement of  humanity …not to squander her experience by putting it in a box and not using it.

Bart replies:
Look, it’s possible that the fastest way to end this war is to elect a Democrat to the White House. Maybe Cindy ought to put her personal needs on the back burner and help make that happen.

If Cindy is somehow successful at demonizing the Democratic front-runner, what will she say when President McCain commits even more troops to Bush’s bloody quagmire?

It’s my opinion that Cindy is fighting against her own best interests.
Who’s going to stoip this war sooner – President Clinton or President McCain?

Vampires

Hello,This week at Think Or Be Eaten: Is the system broken?

‘People are angrily expressing their disgust with the new congress that was supposed to put bush in a pickle jar at the very least, leaving just enough holes in the lid to let him keep breathing until we can get a real president. He’s not only not lame, he’s hard at it, getting into even more dirty business without missing a beat.’excerpt from “Vampires”

Hi Bartcop,
I posted another of Don Robertson’s typically cynical, sarcastic, and satirical essays.
In this piece, he posits the notion that Bush represents the solution to the horrendous Iraqi disaster of his own making. To address Bush’s assertion that the “terrorists” will “follow us here and get us” if we bring the troops home, Don proposes an absurdly amusing plan for withdrawal of our invasion forces, which includes extending an invitation to those we have grieviously harmed in the Middle East to come to the US and exact their revenge on Bush and his fellow war criminals.
His last piece that satirically attacked “wage slaves” and “citizen journalists” from my generation (i.e. ME) stirred up quite a firestorm of acerbic, spirited, and hateful commentary! It would seem that a fair number of people take themselves quite seriously and failed to find the humor in Don’s sarcasm….
I thought you might want to link:
Regards,
Jason
