Bartcop Poker Club

Filed under: Uncategorized — Bart @ 12:15 pm

We need a place for the poker players to ask questions and post suggestions and stuff.

Feel free to jump in.

Also, what would you think about a “Losers Lounge” tourney at 9PM Central for $1 or $2?

Lots of Democrats are too broke to play $5, but they might play $2 or $1.

We might try that next Wednmesday – see you tonight at Tournaments -> Private -> Poker Table #10673095

  1. A challenge to all poker players:
I am on Poker FIRE. Last night I won a 90 person sit and go at the $20 level. Also, I have won outright more of the Bartcop tournaments than anyone else. Would someone please splash a bucket of bad beats on me? If you do, I am offering up a $10 reward for knocking me out of tonights tournament.

  2. Here’s the scoop if you are new to the Bartcop.com private poker tournament hosted on Full Tilt:

We play every Wednesday night at 8 Okie time (central).

When you create a new account, use the bonus code ‘friendofbart’. This will help us track players, and allow us to offer special prizes from time to time ($50 in Bart bounty has been paid to date).

  3. I’ve played two Bartcop tourneys and had a blast. I’ve never won anything, but have a great time.
I’ve never even played at the same table as Bart. Stick around a little this time Bart! :)

As for Flat – a top notch player indeed. Congrats on the big win.

  4. Gonna have to miss the 1st bartcop tourney of 2007, but expect to be in next week. $5 is fine. Bart plays as if the blinds are on super turbo.

  5. I’m gonna share a story with anyone that is interested…

Last Friday night Mrs. Armadillo and I went to the Grand Casino Coushatta in Louisianna. I had sat down at the $2 – $5 No Limit table. I had a pretty good feel for the table as far as who the tight and loose players were. On my right was this really sharp coonass casino regular. The guy looked like a cross between a retired motorcycle gangster and an overweight frenchie. Some players limped into the pot before I looked down and saw AK off. This is not a hand to slowplay preflop so I kicked it up to $20. There were 4 other players that called me including my new friend on my right and I was in position. The flop came Kc Ks 10c. Everyone checked to me. The one jackass loose player was already out of the hand and I felt pretty strong about my chances at this time. A couple of the players were the check raiser/trappy type. So after some consideration, I jovially tossed a $5 chip into the $100 pot. A couple of guys called it and the intimidating character on my right unflinchingly states…. Raise…. $75 to go. I sort my chips for a moment or two, declare a raise, move in the $75 to call, look at my remaining $215 and decide to push it all. Hopefully, I’m about to hit paydirt. The play folds around to my neighbor who is obviously peturbed. I start to stare blankly at the felt as he sneers at me. Then he states, “Can you beat this?” as he flips up the fourth king in the deck. I just look back down at the felt, knowing to keep quiet. Then he gets his buddy’s attention at the next table and says “Watch what I’m about to do”, and he mucks.

Damn! That was the best read anyone has ever gotten on me. What a spectacular laydown!

I rewarded him with a show of my AK. He said, “That’s what I get for playing K-9.”

    I have a new hero.

    – what exactly does coonass mean?

    Comment by wvhills — January 4, 2007 @ 2:42 pm

  7. Sorry, ‘coonass’ is the only acceptable cultural slur left in America. Louisianians often refer to themselves as such. In fact many take it as a source of cultural pride.

There is no offense meant by the word.

    Comment by Flat Armadillo — January 5, 2007 @ 2:13 pm

  8. After doing a little research on the word, I found that:

‘Cajun governor of Louisiana Edwin Edwards often used the word “coonass” in reference to himself and other Cajuns’

    From Wikipedia
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coonass

    Comment by Flat Armadillo — January 5, 2007 @ 2:17 pm

  9. Heh, this too:

While campaigning for President in Louisiana, Ronald Reagan once suggested his own appointment as an “honorary Cajun coonass.”

  10. I really don’t like bart’s ragging on Phil.
This guy is the most entertaining guy in poker.
You rather watch 6 boring players ?

    Comment by Cerberus — January 5, 2007 @ 5:49 pm

  11. Move the tournament to weekends.
21:00 EST on a wednesday puts Belgians at a disadvantage.

    Comment by Cerberus — January 5, 2007 @ 5:52 pm

  12. the filthy belgian has a point. weekdays are hard for working poor to stay up that late, i’m all for weekend tourney. i’m NEVER for showing cards not paid for. just sayin

  14. Yeah, Bart, I’ve got something to say, but the friggin bartblog is stuck on poker.

Here’s the question I’d like to respond to, from Jan 6:

Question: Why doesn’t the right care enough to speak out?

I’d tell you why, but Country Joe said it best:

So come on, generals, don’t be slow.
    This is war a go-go.
There’s plenty good money to be made
supplyin’ our boys with the tools of the trade.
And we know peace can only be won
when we blow ‘em all to Kingdom Come.

To sum up: war is hella profitable for certain folks. In this case, those who profit are on the right.

  15. bart should fase out all the other stuff.
    Stick with just poker.

    Comment by Cerberus — January 6, 2007 @ 9:46 am

  16. Agreed weekends are the way to go, when people can stay up late and lose some moolah. Saturday night would be perfect and draw more people.

    Comment by Fud — January 6, 2007 @ 11:15 am

  17. off topic rants will not win you any pots mister fingers.

but maybe a wag of the finger…….

    Comment by ROSCORUDE — January 6, 2007 @ 12:56 pm

  18. How about this:

Everyone that plays or cares should speak up on this.

Please state what the ideal tournament would be like.

    What day of the week?

    What time of the night?

What stakes would you prefer to play?

Would you be interested in a ‘early out’ tournament? for say… $1?

If we can get some input, we’ll make the adjustments.

    Comment by Flat Armadillo — January 7, 2007 @ 11:12 am

  19. I can play on weekends.
    Whatever day is most popular…

    Comment by Bart — January 9, 2007 @ 8:15 pm

  20. Going to a lower buy-in might attract more players. I can see how the $50 buy-in at Full Tilt might present a problem.
As for weekends, perhaps, although Saturday night might present some problems.
Are 9 players the minimum needed? I’d play with less if allowed.

    Comment by Ol Texas Joe — January 10, 2007 @ 10:29 am

  21. Unfortunately, Full Tilt automatically cancels private tournaments that have less than 9 players.

    Comment by Flat Armadillo — January 10, 2007 @ 7:30 pm

  22. Couldn’t get set up in time this week, and I blame the goddamn republicans. If I could put my stinking debit card on the site and deposit money you’d have had 12…oh well, next week. I am down for whatever day, time, and buy in…I think more than the buyin for turning off more players is the $50 minimum and the bullshit hastle it is to deposit it if you do got it. Any time you make it is going to suck for somebody, and I think the current (9PM EST) is perfect for a weeknight. Weekends might turn off players with a life (though I do not claim to be one of those). Anyway, good luck all (except bart, you already lost!), catch up with you next time.

And off subject: FUCK BIDEN–I know you are all betting men (any women in any tourneys yet?)…what are the odds on my worthless senator being the next Zell Miller or running on the “Delaware for Biden” ticket?

    Comment by DE DONKY — January 10, 2007 @ 8:43 pm

  23. How did Biden come into poker? Maybe the 50 bucks in will turn some away and Biden won’t play. The way i do it is transfer some money through paypal so it’s less complicated.

And whats up with fulltilt wanting to upgrade each time?

Testing html here to see if it works

    Comment by Fud — January 11, 2007 @ 7:07 am

  24. I prefer Wednesdays. I’ll try to deposit a few bucks this week and make the next game.

    Comment by shaej — January 11, 2007 @ 7:59 am

  25. I’m not sure you can just transfer money from Paypal. They don’t want to get involved with offshore online gambling sites. But if someone you know with a good positive cash balance has a paypal account, then yes you can paypal it to their paypal account, and they could transfer some of their Full Tilt cash to your account. Please contact me if this is your only method of charging up your account, I would be willing to do this as long as I have a healthy FT balance. Shoot an email to ‘rypublic at yahoo dot com’

  26. friday or saturday would be fine.
I’m not sure if bart can bring his A game to a $2 tourney. He couldn’t bring it in the $5s.

I’m not even sure he HAS an A game.

    Comment by Cerberus — January 11, 2007 @ 4:10 pm

  27. I don’t understand is there going to be a game or not? Didn’t see anything about it on the main page yet.

I’m with 5 minimum at least. Thats less than a burger at most places.

    Comment by Fud — January 12, 2007 @ 2:18 pm

  28. Games are currently every Wednesday night at 8 central. I also would prefer the $5. Would anyone else care to chime in? Who wants to keep it at $2 and who wants it back to $5?

    Comment by Flat Armadillo — January 12, 2007 @ 7:03 pm

  29. friday or saturday would be best.
The buyin doesn’t matter. $5 is good.

    Comment by Cerberus — January 13, 2007 @ 9:51 am

  30. It’s been a while since that first tournament in Vegas way back when, no?

What’s the deal with FT? I’ve never played online – can you transfer money in and out without hassles? Is it legal and above board?

Deal me in on Saturday nights if all is Kosher with FT.

    Comment by VegasDave — January 14, 2007 @ 12:40 am

  31. Online it’s still legal, they tried to outlaw it and lost. The first buy in is 50 bucks so that should last for a bunch of tourneys. Each match was 5 bucks plus 50 cents so you aren’t blowing 50 in just one game and can use the rest later.

Just to clarify about paypal. They don’t take it so i paypaled some to cerberus and he put it into my fulltilt account.

    Comment by Fud — January 14, 2007 @ 1:31 am

  32. Is there a game tonight?

    Comment by DE DONKY — January 17, 2007 @ 6:24 pm

  33. I like the $2 tourneys myself. I’ll do $5, but certainly prefer the cheaper. Also, weekends may not be the best for me because I usually have a Saturday night game with a bunch of people. I say keep it on Wednesdays.

    Comment by wug37 — January 25, 2007 @ 12:45 pm

  34. Wednesdays don’t work for me most of the time…if we were to move it to Sunday, I could be there every time.

And when is the next IN PERSON Bartcop Pokerfest?
