Governor Sarah Palin’s Ethics Problem
Posted on August 25, 2008 by rogermaynard
When Governor Palin chose to unceremoniously dump Alaska Department of Public Safety Commissioner Monehan a few weeks ago, she had no idea the trouble that would follow. Apparently the basic issue was that Monehan supported the troopers, saw a department that had been cut too many times, and refused to make additional budget cuts as directed by the governor.
But then it came to light that Governor Palin, her family and staff were pressuring Monehan to fire a trooper, one that is an ex-brother in law, over a personal matter, and things became sticky real fast. Her denials and subsequent back-pedaling have only served to intensify the controversy.
By now she must know how br’er rabbit felt. It was tempting to draw blogger Andrew Halcro as br’er fox, but simple cartoons are usually better.
